FIMBULTHUL
(The Great Chanter)
What separates us from the past?
A face with wise eyes offers to teach what it has seen from the Tree. The mask chants eight questions from an Icelandic manuscript, challenging us to look within.
This piece reminds us that knowledge has a price. Seldom does a wise person smile.
The eyes are wood burned - I then embedded Brass dust for colour and sealed with Epoxy Resin (UV & HALS stabilized) to give the eyes a naturally glossy look.

Do you know how to carve?
Do you know how to read?
Do you know how to stain?
Do you know how to understand?
Do you know how to evoke?
Do you know how to worship?
Do you know how to summon?
Do you know how to sacrifice?
